This is me when I am on a lot of "holy shit look at this thing that sucks" subs. It's like... Do I upvote if it's cool or downvote cuz it doesn't fit the sub.
The best solution is to downvote it in places that are talking crap about it and upvote it everywhere else you see it because you know anything good is going to end up in other subs that celebrate it as well
Edit: thanks for all the replies. It’s all very informative. I always thought drag was over-the-top cross dressing and exaggerated glam/performance type stuff. Either way the dude is killing it. I just don’t know all the lingo.
The point of the quote is that everyone chooses what they wear in order to portray a character and have people perceive them a certain way. A man wearing an expensive suit is just as performative as a man wearing a dress. So nobody should give a crap about drag because nobody starts life wearing their chosen costumes.
While i do see the profoundness of the quote, isn’t it really just about clothes in general? You say “nobody should give a crap about drag,” which to me implies that drag is a distinguishable style of dress different than a suit. And the reason I’m being pedantic about it is that the conversation was started by somebody questioning if a specific thing was considered drag or not. So is drag just your clothes, or is it a style that includes some things and not others?
There are 11 other replies to that initial question about whether or not this is drag and you've engaged with none of them. Instead you latched on to a RuPaul quote and dismissed it. So it doesn't seem like you actually want an answer the the question, "is this drag".
If you do want an answer then here's my two cents. Asking if something is drag is like asking if something is art. The definition changes from person to person, context to context. Some people might say drag is a man dressed as a woman in an over-exaggerated way just like some people might say art is a painting that is pleasing to the eye. They're correct, but that's also a very narrow view of it.
Drag is an amorphous art form that explores humanity through costume and performance. The rules are both fixed and fluid. It's always changing and evolving. So whether or not Daddy Grinch is drag is up for your own personal interpretation. To me, yes. This is 100% drag.
God damn, I’m so not fabulous. I never understand shit my gay friends just tell me that is the culture and I’m like sounds good. Socially awkward for life.
"Drag" basically means "performance involving exaggerated gendered traits", so I'd say this counts. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn't strictly have to involve crossdressing.
It easily could be. There's a drag queen from Arkansas who goes by Symone, and she did a furry (fox) look where she had custom made everything herself and only her face was left uncovered. There's a ton of different kinds of drag, and this could easily be considered "Club Kid" drag ala James St James and Waltpaper.
I understand drag to be the deliberate performance of a caricaturized gender archetype. This is less about gender and more about, uh, Grinchiness, but I wouldn't say it's NOT drag
I would say yes. Drag is an art form generally categorised as "performing as exaggerated gender archetypes and concepts". However its not limited to presenting as a specific stereotype of gender, some drag performers have "monster" or "inhuman" characters where they'll use inhuman features mixed with exaggerated human features, or they'll embody monster-esque concepts.
Dragula has great examples of this, sometimes the performers perform as humanoids, sometimes they're more creature-like. Hoso from Dragula S4 is a good example of someone who leans towards more inhuman styles, while Dahli (from the same season) is more humanoid, both are drag performers but their preference is horror, over the more well known glamour, theatre or comedy drag. Someone wearing this would be considered as "in drag" in my opinion.
If it wasn't for the fact my autistic ass can't handle stuff on my face I'd 100% do drag but I don't even like chapstick so I'll never unlock my true potential and slay
I don't really feel like costumes belong here. They're not trying to be good taste, they're trying to be fantastical transformations. You're not wearing a costume to your uncle's funeral or your niece's quinceanera, unless you're unhinged, and that only means you don't understand the dress code.
Good use of the Duct Tape Dummy to insure a proper fit!
For the unfamiliar, this is a method for constructing a body suit, where you wrap yourself in cling wrap or a cheap tyvek jumpsuit, then wrap several layers of duct tape around, so when you cut it off, it creates a shell contoured to your body. You can then stuff it and use it to produce a form-fitting bodysuit!
I am absolutely FASCINATED by this, I'm thinking I should be able to do it to myself to make a made-to-measure dress form for myself for making regular clothing, which would be amazing...
There's a knack to it, and it's a two-person job, but there's tutorials online. It's a commmon technique when ordering bodysuits online - the buyer creates a DTD, which can be folded flat and mailed cheaply, and is then filled back up by the creator to ensure a custom fit. Good stuff!
Yeah how is the majority thinking this is good taste? It’s well executed but looks like shit. Who sexualizes the grinch? It’s like LGBT meets furries..
And I honestly think the worst part about it would be plugging up the nose and only breathing through your mouth. Seriously, set a timer for 3 minutes and see if you can last only breathing through your mouth. Then imagine going an entire evening like that.
Going through the comments, there seems to be a general understanding that this is not awful taste, even great taste? Noone thinks this is oddly terrifying revolting nightmare fuel? What's next...a Chucky sex suit?
except that I do think it is (maybe exaggerated but still appropriate to say) in 'awful taste' to "provocatize" children's content with character reimaginations that implement jock straps & nipple rings, and "sexually suggestive" attitude that wasn't there previously.
They put the morph suit over the duct tape body cast so that they could accurately place the muscle pieces on the morph suit with less trial and error placements.
The duct tape body cast was never intended as part of the final outfit.
The saran wrap and duct tape portion was just to create a form to tailor the body suit to. He's not actually wearing that part. But I'm sure the body suit with the foam and fur on top is also pretty damn hot and sweaty
That man is a brilliant artist! He can make anything his crazy, amazing brain can dream up. He is so incredibly talented. I love his work!! He was even Old Gregg with a light that would turn on when he pulled his skirt up, just like Old Gregg's "m*ngina" (self censored, because some might not know about the character from The Mighty Boosh, and I don't want to upset anyone with that term).
This guy is fucking AWESOME!!! I used to see him on my Reels. Hell of a tailor/designer and a sexy beast! Great accent as well. OP, this does not belong here.
I'm sorry, OP, but this sub is only for awful taste.
Seriously. My brain is like “downvote for inaccurate title” but my gut is like “you can’t downvote, this it’s amazing.”
This is me when I am on a lot of "holy shit look at this thing that sucks" subs. It's like... Do I upvote if it's cool or downvote cuz it doesn't fit the sub.
Right?? It's epic
The best solution is to downvote it in places that are talking crap about it and upvote it everywhere else you see it because you know anything good is going to end up in other subs that celebrate it as well
reddit really needs a third "like" button for when something is not relevant at all but is agreeable nonetheless
That might be the most relevant post ever posted.
It is awful. I wanted to downvote but couldn't because it's accurate title.
Yes, I’m honestly so sorry for the downvote but this is great taste, fabulous execution
Awesome thicc butt, great execution!
yeah this is brilliant
Yea, this is clearly exquisite taste. This guys stuff rules
Drag is so fucking awesome all the time
Honest question. Is this drag?
Edit: thanks for all the replies. It’s all very informative. I always thought drag was over-the-top cross dressing and exaggerated glam/performance type stuff. Either way the dude is killing it. I just don’t know all the lingo.
You're born naked and the rest is drag
If there's one thing I took away from the occasional clips of drag race on talk soup, it's this quote.
If everything is drag then nothing is drag
Not everything has an inverse. That’s like saying if everyone has a heart then no one has a heart.
We call that being Brad Bird-brained
I get that reference

Are furies drag then?
God damn, I’m so not fabulous. I never understand shit my gay friends just tell me that is the culture and I’m like sounds good. Socially awkward for life.

He's a drag king most of the time
It easily could be. There's a drag queen from Arkansas who goes by Symone, and she did a furry (fox) look where she had custom made everything herself and only her face was left uncovered. There's a ton of different kinds of drag, and this could easily be considered "Club Kid" drag ala James St James and Waltpaper.
It is, the performer is Silver Rox and he considers himself a drag king.
This artist makes drag Queen outfits on commission usually I think this one is just a personal project though.
The artist might have their own opinion, but I’d say yes. It’s larger than life, campy, involves heavy makeup, and transforms the wearer entirely.
Silver Rox does consider himself a drag king.
Maybe... But when he hit that strut at the end, there wasn't any question!
I understand drag to be the deliberate performance of a caricaturized gender archetype. This is less about gender and more about, uh, Grinchiness, but I wouldn't say it's NOT drag

This might not be, but the dude is clearly a pro. Look at his stride at the end of the video.
This is AMAZING
Facts, like this fit at a holiday special drag event 🤌
If it wasn't for the fact my autistic ass can't handle stuff on my face I'd 100% do drag but I don't even like chapstick so I'll never unlock my true potential and slay
I feel you with that chapstick stuff. I either have to deal with chapped lips or the sticky stuff either way this is my life for the day.
everything about this is fantastic. that dude is seriously a talented artist.
I love his energy
Silver Rox is a ray of sunshine in my feeds. Talent all around and great spirit
THEY ARE TURNING THE GRINCH GAY!!
r/GTAGE
Amazing.
Looks like it was a good laugh making the thing.
All of his videos are hilarious
And he has such a good laugh!

"A Christmas Story: My Grinchy Awakening"
This year, the Grinch's heart isn't the only thing growing 3 times larger. In theatres 12-24
Oh my fucking god this just absolutely SENT me 🤣

This guy is amazing, i love him so much
Right? So talented! And the laugh! All types of glorious.
Me too - and he’s so gorgeous to start with!
used to follow him on insta back when i still used it! was a nice surprise seeing him here haha.
Exactly what I was thinking! Put some respect on his name!
This is incredible
Great taste and great execution
Stupid sexy Grinch!
Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all!
Well this is a thing. I have now seen this thing. And I won't be forgetting this for awhile. Time to spread it to a bunch of random people
Better yet, spread it to your loved ones and revel in the unfolding chaos.
I definitly will lok
This is legit the best thing I've seen today, why is it in this sub?
I don't really feel like costumes belong here. They're not trying to be good taste, they're trying to be fantastical transformations. You're not wearing a costume to your uncle's funeral or your niece's quinceanera, unless you're unhinged, and that only means you don't understand the dress code.
You could wear this to a quincenera I guess
Serious talent!
Also, what were the nose plugs for?
Listen, when daddy grinch is around, every hole is getting plugged.
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I think it's to prevent the inside of the facemask from getting all soggy from exhaling.
The things one does for costuming! On the other hand... That's kind of brilliant. I will be testing this next time I wear a mask.
Was curious as well. They seemed so big and uncomfortable!
Werk that 39 1/2 foot pole!
If I had prizes to give, they’d be yours
r/lostredditors
I think my only real complaint is that the straps are loose.
excellente taste, great execution
This is the weird side of humanity that I am glad exists. Like how confused would an alien be by this behavior?
Absolutely can not tolerate Silver Rox slander. Every piece is amazing.
The fuel of nightmares
Wet nightmares
Rox always has the most spectacular fits, I fell in love with their "Hot Nashville Nights" jacket
Good use of the Duct Tape Dummy to insure a proper fit!

This is absolutely fantastic
SilverRox is insanely talented, definitely check out his other work. I'd love to wear the Beetlejuice jacket he made.
Grinch of Finland here is top notch execution, but it doesn't qualify for awful taste.
Idk wtf everyone is on about. This is awful taste but very well executed.
Yeah how is the majority thinking this is good taste? It’s well executed but looks like shit. Who sexualizes the grinch? It’s like LGBT meets furries..
To quote the great man,
How DARE you!
More like hyyy derrrr ye
I love it when he says that
Stupid sexy Grinch
Does anybody know the song.
It's from There I Runined It's YouTube channel. And it's an absolute jam:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SVPH9pSJUY
Thank you! Fucking A+!
Excellent taste, excellent execution.
Why is there always a gay guy that finds a reason sexualize a cartoon character by putting them in bdsm gear….
Omg that would be so hot and sweaty
And I honestly think the worst part about it would be plugging up the nose and only breathing through your mouth. Seriously, set a timer for 3 minutes and see if you can last only breathing through your mouth. Then imagine going an entire evening like that.
Guys something's going on with the Grinch....
His hole is about to grow three sizes. 💫💫💢💢💢
Someone's been visiting r/sounding
I am not young. I have half a century of running around finding out about stuff. Today I saw a new thing. I saw a thing I never knew was a thing.
All I can say is, wow.
That is a thing that I now know exists.
Wow.
No, just gay. Lmao
A little rework and you also have a Piccolo's full body costume
Magnificent craftsmanship
I follow this person on Pinterest!
This is amazing!
That's sickening.
Did the ass crack really need the extra fur?
You're slutty one, Mister Grinch
r/TIHI
Going through the comments, there seems to be a general understanding that this is not awful taste, even great taste? Noone thinks this is oddly terrifying revolting nightmare fuel? What's next...a Chucky sex suit?
The fuck do you mean awful taste this is the best thing I've seen all week
What Martha May Whovier's fantasies look like
🙂... 😀... 😃... 🤩🤩🤩‼️‼️‼️
Another GTGE posts, psh. :P
This thing is fuckin' amazing! Great execution, but also in great taste! I love seeing supreme talent displayed in open and welcoming ways.
I hate that my eyes work rn.
The dark green ass crack hair is inspired designing
This shit would do numbers at DragonCon
Oh not this shit again
except that I do think it is (maybe exaggerated but still appropriate to say) in 'awful taste' to "provocatize" children's content with character reimaginations that implement jock straps & nipple rings, and "sexually suggestive" attitude that wasn't there previously.
This went from funny to way too Berghain.
The laugh when he reveals the nipple ring, holy crap this is funny
He stole all the cake from Whosville
Silver Rox!! He's a joy to behold.
Challenge to OPs in this sub: understand 1 single piece of art / creativity / craftsmanship without considering everything unusual to be “bad taste”.
The hair in the crack 😭
the dark green fur in the crack 😭
"You're an original character. Monsieur Grouch!"
Someone, somewhere, is going to be really into this.
I hate the switch from the red leather harness to the lederhosen. Otherwise, this is amazing.
If I saw this thing coming at me i'd
What in the tiktok!?
if the grinch was a fortnite skin,...
Kinda shocked at the general consensus in the comments. Nothing weird or poor taste about a ripped grinch in a thong?
This is beyond amazing.
Why does this make me think of the Grinch and Piccolo had an offspring with perfect cell?
I'm confused what the plastic wrap and duct tape were for if they just swapped to a morph suit
They put the morph suit over the duct tape body cast so that they could accurately place the muscle pieces on the morph suit with less trial and error placements.
The duct tape body cast was never intended as part of the final outfit.
"Really? Man of your talents doing this?"
"It's a fabulous life"
I don't know how to feel about this...
this is incredible taste and execution. I love it.
why did he plug his nose
I… I can’t look away.
A nudists nightmare.
This is fabulous!
To say one of my favorite lines. This is a wonderful use of free will.
Antoine Grinchmann
This had better not awaken something inside of me…
Never thought I'd be turned on by The Grinch, but here we are.
Nah, sorry. This is immaculate taste. I love this dude and his work
Ive been following this guy for ages. He is so fucking good at what he makes.
The inner shell of the costume is airtight. He'd be sweaty, wet, and creating his own biosphere in there. lol
The saran wrap and duct tape portion was just to create a form to tailor the body suit to. He's not actually wearing that part. But I'm sure the body suit with the foam and fur on top is also pretty damn hot and sweaty

All The Who’s asses we’re soar the next day.
IMMACULATE taste, thank you very much.
This guy is fucking AWESOME!!! I used to see him on my Reels. Hell of a tailor/designer and a sexy beast! Great accent as well. OP, this does not belong here.
Yeah you don't shit talk this man
Is that the same guy who made that neon costume complete with glowing mouth light?
GT,GE
0:31 am I the only one hearing Trobbio 1’s defeated theatrics? “Ooh, aahh, eee”
Fuck you, this is great.
Wrong group. This is the average redditor.
I wish I could pronounce, "How dare you?" like Silver Rox does, but I just can't get enough Belfast into my words.
This is so cursed but absolutely hilarious lmao. Dude has an incredible sense of flair and humor.
I'm getting alittle silence of the lambs vibe here
I stayed for the end knowing it would be rough… can’t unsee that walk
Looks like a new JoJo’s stand
Does this qualify as a fursuit?
I want a hug from them so badly
This amazing in every aspect. This guy is awesome he does tons of badass cosplay
What's the music????
He has no excuse for losing his keys
Did all that but didn't hide a pee hole!
I hate everything about this dude; he's like the culmination of every annoying creator personality adopted to get more views.
I absolutely LOVE Silver_Rox!! Been following for so long 😊😊😊
“Daddy needs help getting his rocks off!”
Hilariously executed
This human is BRILLIANT. i follow him on everything.
This is absolutely incredible. This should be on r/TopTalent not here.
I’d love to see him in this at an ICE protest with all the other fantastic costumes.

Next Question
Lol, what’s the song at the end?
Guys, I think he might be homosexual
Soundtrack source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUCwKYSTNFk
Wait so he can’t breathe out of his nose?
What is the song at the end? Lmao
I bet he left a slit for his penis to pop out.
What’s the carol?
