  • what's the general notion about india now? is it safe for indians to travel to nepal?

It has always been safe for Indians to travel to Nepal. Not just Indians Nepal is safe for tourists from all around the world. That's not a problem. The general notion about India has been same for long time now. We know how culturally similar we are and Indian entertainment is hugely popular here. However, it is widely known that India has deep claws in Nepalese politics. Politicians are in their deep pocket and government is technically run by them. Any uprising politician that can be a threat to that control will be squashed. (Like Madan Bhandari)

i see. thank you for that info, neighbor.

  • Forgive me for this insanely ignorant question and if anything I could possibly be mistaken this for the Philippines for whatever reason but is it true that (to an extent) that this all literally sparked from a discord server? I heard something about that never looked into it further. Now that you’re here, might as well hear it from the horses mouth.

There were groups in discord that helped the movement get its momentum. So yeah to some extend it did. Its easier to access younger people in discord.

  • What's your take on the one piece anime since some of the protesters flew the strawhat flag

The flag were rare in Nepal. It was more commonly used in Philippines. It was probably copycat moment to be honest.

  • Why haven’t the youth protesters (or some of them) mobilised to form a political party to contest the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for 5th March 2026/5th Falgun 2082??

Like, the same political parties who created the conditions for your protest which led to all the bloodshed and instability are re-contesting. Nepal’s youth risk repeating their mistake if they cannot mobilise to have a presence in the parliament to continually advocate their concerns and do what they can to prevent further bloodshed, and continue their fight with words and legislative documents rather than weapons for the cause they originally fought for.

For context, the Bangladeshi youth protesters who conducted a similar protest which overthrew the government, mobilised to form the National Citizens Party (NCP). They aren’t doing as well as before in opinion polls right now, but any parliamentary presence - which they are on track to get - is useful and is a voice in a cut-throat world which threatens to stamp them out.

The youths involved in the protest directly or indirectly have difference in ideology. Some are in favour of returning to monarchy, and some want direct election of PM rather than voting for party. So, there is no unity there. Some high profile government executive with history of good work has formed a party while some other divisive personal has created a party too. With no common ideology and a force that brings them together I don't see a formation of party like NCP in Bangladesh. This upcoming election will probably see seats divided among old and new political party with no majority. They will create government together which will not work with powers at play as old political party are controlled by foreign forces. This will create instability and same old political cycle repeats.

  • How were you not afraid of the local authorities cracking down on those who planned these gatherings especially given that they were planned on Discord?

Whenever such protest had happened in the past police force had followed a protocal as per the law. When such protest turns violent usually following steps are followed:

    1. Disperse the crowd by stricking with baton.
    2. Use tear gas.
    3. Use guns in the air to scare the crowd.
    4. Use rubber bullets on civilians under the knee.

However, the police force didn't follow these protocals at all. And they used real bullets which is not allowed for police to use in such protest. The protest was announced 'peaceful' although we all know there is no such thing as peaceful crowd of 12000 people. There is high probability instigators were involved as seen with pattern of death. There were too many head shots from distance which is impossible for police officers with minimal training and decades old guns to get right. And Nepal police has never used such brutality even during the People's Movement (the movement that established democracy by overthrowing monarchy) which lasted for 19 days and was much bigger and intense.

This. And the fact that our politicians are too stupid to understand what discord even is.

  • I was just in Kathmandu for a few days, I really enjoyed my time. The city seemed calm (I mean, chaotic, but in terms of unrest). Will unrest and protests resurge, do you think? And did the previous protests change anything significantly in the trajectory of the country’s political situation ?

There is a chance protest might resurge because this was second protest in few months. Nepal has never really tasted political stability since becoming democratic republic so, there is a familiar pattern. There was protest during the lockdown in covid pandemic because of corruption in PPT kit import. It was believed to be organic movement that was organized in facebook groups. Later on it was found that it was orchestrated by new coming political party to create political instability. So, neither has these protest changed anything nor will it change anything.

  • Did you join the protest? What happened after protest? Do you think Nepal will change for the better

No I didn't. I had doubts that it was not something that was organic. This was not the first time a huge protest was tring to be orchestrated in span of several months. I kind of thought something else was going on. (And I was right.) The parliament was dissolved. New PM was elected on discord. Election was announced. No I don't think Nepal will change at all. The politics of Nepal is controlled by India. There are no new leaders that has ability to venture Nepalese politics away from India. (And it will not be allowed)

  • Ive been itching to do this on my own country how did u guys unite against a tyranny. This is for research purposes (im for civil disobedience, not for terrorism)

It was mostly done in discord.

  • Hey

Did anything actually change after the revolution ?

Nope. Parliament was dissolved. New election was announced by interim PM. And that's it. The only change as of now is loss of public and private property. I personally would not call this revolution. Revolution usually last longer and bring real change like change in governmental system or shift in power. I think this was just protest turned anarchy. It lasted 2 days.

  • What are the causes of the protest as you see it? Do you agree with rumours that it was foreign powers that were behind the protests? Or do you think that’s just baseless conspiracy theory? How do the people see the current situation?

The cause as it was told in media was ban on social media and corruption and it was definitely a ignition. Oh definitely!! There was foreign power at play. This was not a organic movement at all. It was orchestrated and tried several times before this. During covid pandemic lockdown which didn't quite pick up and then protest for monarchy which had similar pattern of arson. I don't think it is conspiracy theory. Anyone with general knowledge about geopolitics knows nothing is coincidence. I think people are hopeful to some extend that new faces will come to power after the election.

  • Are your family and friends safe? What role do you think Media in Nepal played in the GenZ protest? How do you feel about the name “GenZ protest”?

Yes, we were same during the protest and safe now. Although we saw house literally burnt around us. (3 politician's residence). Media definitely did not criticize the brutal force used by police as expected. It was mild criticism. It was not covered widely as you would expect. Honestly, I don't like it at all.

I’m glad you all are safe. Was social media’s role more prominent than media?

    Oh yeah, definitely

  • Did anything happen to the student leaders are they now in government or went back to life as before ?

There was no official leader of the protest. There was one of the worker of NGO involved. It was not done by a student union. Opportunitist youth leaders did try to take advantage of the situation but were heavily criticized. Some young leaders were given governmental roles in current interim government.

  • Would you have preferred having protests or not having protests?

This protest was not organic at all. Similar protest were tried several times before this and quite didn't pick up. I don't think this will bring any significant change so, personally I would have preferred not having protest. This protest cost damages of $586 million. And after this upcoming election same old cycle will repeat.

When you said that the protests had foreign involvement, what group do you think is responsible for this?

    Oh this is going to be long answer. I think before answering this question people need to understand;

    1. Nepal is sandwiched between two world powers, one is China: single greatest threat to USA and other is India: upcoming global power with rising economy expected to become 3rd largest economy in next decade or so. And Nepal is a poor country in between, that can become great strategic location to keep an eye on China and India. India historically has never been loyal ally of the west as they have great relationship with Russia. So, USA definitely wants to keep an eye. There comes Nepal which is poor and needs all the help it can to run its economy.
    2. This brings us to Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) a US government agency that will provide grant of $550 million which faced significant criticism because of some of its clause in the contract. This fund will focus on energy, grid reliability and extention in remote Himalayan region of Nepal to the north sharing border with China. There is also uranuim deposit in these region which has been confirmed by initial testing. (Done between 2014-2018)
    3. Now, the clause that faced criticism (there was huge protest against it being passed from the parliament which failed) mentions that any wrongdoing by American employee of MCC will not be prosecuted by Nepalese law (obviously written in fancy english).
    4. There is another clause that mentions in case of risk or threat of any kind to MCC and its American employee US Army can help them provide security (also written in fancy english).
    5. Something really interesting is though, RAW (intelligence agency of India) will fight tooth and nail to stop CIA to enter Nepal. Ironically, same agency which controls all politics of Nepal for decades is in a way protecting Nepal from probable military interception (to not lose control) in case of current situation. (Nepal Army took control for few days to stabilize after protest which could have easily turned into military coup. If that had happened, US Army might have plausible reason to "free" people from tyranny as we have seen throughout history.)
    6. Or it could be something that was orchestrated by RAW for other reasons that we are not aware of.

This is obviously my personal reading into the situation which could be wrong. But, having known something about geopolitics and how it works seems very logical to me. Nothing is coincidence when it comes to geopolitics.

  • I heard that nepalese IQ is one of the lowest in the world, is it real? Are you one of them?

Sorry, I’m not the OP, but I feel the need to respond for my own peace of mind, and also as a Nepali myself. Please fact-check this using AI chat tools.

The claim that Nepal has one of the lowest IQs relies on data from Richard Lynn and Tatu Vanhanen ('IQ and the Wealth of Nations'), which has been widely debunked and rejected by the mainstream scientific community for severe methodological flaws.

We are definitely not in upper rankings when it comes to IQ. There are several factors that determines IQ and being a poor country with educational flaws and other issues of obviously does not help. I definitely don't have low IQ or really high IQ. I think its average.

  • So I just don't follow the media, what was the point of the protests?

The government tried cracking down on social media because an increasing amount of people were speaking out against corruption and how the kids of the politicians were enjoying lavish lives abroad while the general populace suffered. The politicians didn't like that and tried to impose a social media ban.

It was against social media ban and corruption. Although the reasoning by the government to ban social media was that they were not registered in Nepal and were not paying taxes. This was false as most of these companies had started paying taxes since 2023. So, that was odd and fishy.

  • How many politicians died? How many have gone missing? And how many have fled the country?

I don't think any politician died. Although some were severely beaten. Some police officer were beaten to death. No one has gone missing. That's the suprising part, none.

  • Why did they burn the Hilton hotel?

It was owned by son of a prominent politician who was also almost beaten to death. And ironically saved by the same people probably because he was not in power at that time. (He was opposition)

  • Is the new government finally fixing things?

The responsibility of interim government is to held election in few months as announced. I don't think new elected government will fix anything.
