The Spotify boycott is great and I am glad we are doing it. That being said, Google also airs ICE ads, including those disgusting "if you are an illegal immigrant, then you should be afraid" ads, as I was so unfortunately reminded of today when I saw said ad.
I think the 50501 movement should collaborate with the degoogle movement to create another boycott against Youtube and Google. I think it's weird that we are boycotting Spotify but not Google, as there are plenty of alternatives to Google's services once you go looking. Most people didn't know about Spotify alternatives like Deezer before the boycott, and I think many people would be willing to learn about Tuta mail, Proton Drive, Startpage search, Invidious, FreeTube, etc. if there was a boycott against Google by 50501

I'd be on board to do it, but it is genuinely harder for people to cut out Google. You only need to bully one company hard for others to get be message. So keeping the focus on Spotify and easy targets is probably more effective.
While it is harder to boycott Google, I don't think it's as hard as people think. Again, there are alternatives to a lot of Google services that people don't know about. People don't even have to cut Google completely out of their lives, as just cutting off of sources will do some damage

Sixty years ago, people put themselves on the line - in harms way, to progress civil rights, anti-war, free-speech, and feminist causes. They fully committed themselves because the cause was bigger and more important than the individual.
Today, you can't even get people to give up a free email service or switch to an alternative search engine because that's far too inconvenient to the individual. And that attitude explains a lot about the current circumstances.
The Spotify boycott illustrates the difference between a tightly focused boycott and a scattershot boycott. Maximum pressure is brought to bear on a single company for maximum effectiveness and to show other companies what can happen to them. One company at a time may be more effective in achieving the objective while at the same time being less painful for consumer.
I don't know much about organizing boycotts, so maybe you're right
YouTube, for better or worse and shadow bans, is still a source of hosting independent media. There and Reddit are about the only place I can find suppressed news from mainstream MAGA media. Spotify was basically useless or nefarious in that department and has been begging like a simp for me to come back. Protect yourself from Google/YouTube accordingly, I say.
