  • So, question about the logistics of this.

    We walk out at 2:00...and then what? Go home? Protest in the parking lot? March...somewhere? Go back in after 5 minutes? Do we go back the next day? When we walk out, do we explain why? Do we go out in silence?

    I work one on one with kids, and literally can't leave without having coverage or help as it's a safety issue for the children.

    I'm all for the idea...but don't understand the execution.

  • Ok I see this, and yes we need more mass protests. But what is the ask here? I see on the website it's values, walk away from fascism, etc. Which is also great. But shouldn't we be making demands here? Otherwise it's just performative. 

    We need to demand removal of Trump from office. Demand reparations for all of the damage he has done. Etc!!

    Do another no kings day and then then coordinate all the 50501 groups to advertise a walk out at the rally. You could even put the walk out as a subtext in the no kings poster.

    This isn’t organizing.

    This is pacifying the (now former) middle class that is scared of what real protests from the lifelong lower class looks like in reality when it happens organically.

    Telling someone they’re doing it wrong but never explaining how you’re doing it right is indistinguishable from fud-posting. You’re involved in effective in-person organizing right? You’ve actually started to move the needle in Norfolk right? That’s why you feel confident in scolding people? Then have the guts to advocate for your better option. And no, “I go to some DSA meetings when I feel like it” is not a safety concern you couldn’t possibly share online. If you’re making a difference you should be able to point to external proof. Otherwise consider whether you’re just being a lazy contrarian
