The drying temp of a filament can often be above the temp it begins to soften at. And unless your dryer auto-rotates it probably has hot spots.
ABS/PLA/PETG all don't handle loads well when heated. ASA is kinda the minimum for spools. Maybe ABS-GF would go okay I haven't tried it.
Also weight saving spools are kinda pointless. They just lack the structural integrity. You can't even respool using them because the sides will bend out.
ABS spools are fine for drying PLA. I've done it plenty of times without issue. And I've never had an issue with spool sides bending when respooling. How are you respooling that you're putting enough pressure on the sides to bow them out?
It is imperative that your cylinder is insulated from harmful styrene containing polymers by a layer of mashed bananas mixed with microwaved butter (to prevent wear from friction)

What is the reason for posting the exact same image again, but this time in a JPG format that has lower contrasts?
On old reddit, both images show as a link, the first image has more contrast
On new reddit, both images render as an image, the first image has better contrast

Cursed and perfect

did you put it in the oven to dry ? just wondering ....
Nope. Creality Pi at ABS settings. This is just like 3 hours. Can't imagine how bad it'd be if I'd left it overnight.
it was a joke brother I'm new to the 3d game as well
Given you are new, just like me, yes people do actually use ovens to dry the filament. Hence why he did not think it was a joke lol
There’s also the guy that forgot to take it out and his mom went to preheat the oven for Christmas dinner.
Cooked.
Cooked indeed lol 😂
Honestly was kinda considering using the old toaster oven.... still kinda considering it.
Printing spools is pretty useless.
I'll just throw my refills into the AMS without a spool then.
Spools are a scam by filament companies to sell more plastic per plastic
Yeah, I just put the refills around my penis when printing
The cylinder must not be damaged.

Idk what these comments are, or why the downvotes are happening.
Doesn't everyone end up recycling tons of rolls that they have as extras?
I have 6 empties right now. Empty spools are a scourge because for some reason filament on a new spool is cheaper than a refill pack sometimes.
I Agree. You get so many spools, you throw them away.
Maybe you do. Not everybody does. Imagine a world where YOUR situation is not everyone's situation. That blow your mind? Crazy, but it's true.
 :clown:
