Unfortunately sand storms are common in or near the deserts and people living in these areas are used to having multiple sand storms every year. they can be deadly if you're not in a properly sheltered place. Btw you guys don't have these near the Negev?
I don't think we've ever had anything NEAR that level.
We do have the occasional sandstorm, but THIS thing looks more like that scene from "The Mommy".

Holy Crap - are those level of storms common ? (as in, this is not a once in a century thing. people have to deal with it every few years)
