• u/sadsleuth, there weren't enough votes to determine the quality of your post...

  • Ozzy never had any songwriters nearly as good as Geezer and Tony in his solo band (and didn't tend to write material himself.)

    This is unarguably true.

But Ozzy had a way of making a song completely his own, even when he hadn’t written it himself.

Take Mama, I’m Coming Home, for example. It may have been written by Lemmy Kilmister, but would you really attribute it to anyone other than Ozzy now?

By “solo material,” I don’t mean songs written by him per se, but rather those performed by him.

  • That's real 10th dentist shit. Sabbath was amazing. I'll still back the idea Symptom of a Universe invented the entire punk genre. But Sabbath also invented sludge metal. Real pioneers and totally unappreciated.

I do not think Sabbath is unappreciated at all lol.

I just like his solos better - they strike me as more personal.

They an rent unappreciated by anyone who knows anything about metal at all, since they basically invented metal (not just sludge/doom). Probably the biggest metal band ever in terms to f status but came just before the commercialisation of the 80s that made Metallica and the like much bigger commercial successes

Among music nerds Black Sabbath is kind of disregarded. I never understood why. I think it's jealousy tbh lol. Instead you should listen to obscure mathcore band that sounds exactly like every other mathcore band.

  • Yes! But I also like phyco man.

  • I love Ozzy's solo work but I LOVE Ozzy with Black Sabbath.

  • I like Randy's stuff that Ozzy sang on more than sabbath... Other than that meh

  • Fire in the skyyy...

  • I don't wanna stop is his best song imo.

Mr Crowley for me, but I can't limit it to one.
